LIVE AT POWDERHAM CHARITIES RAISE MORE THAN £40K AT DEVON’S BIGGEST EVER LIVE MUSIC EVENT

Charity partners at Devon’s biggest ever live music event have raised more than more than £40,000 thanks to generous fans.

Live At Powderham saw 140,000 visitors head to the stunning country estate for four huge shows last month, headlined by Teddy Swims, Alanis Morissette and Lewis Capaldi.

And it is now revealed the festival’s four charity partners – RNLI Teignmouth, Rowcroft Hospice, Exeter Chiefs Foundation and RMA – The Royal Marines Charity – raised £40,723 through collections at the shows.

The amount raised by the individual charities was: 

RNLI Teignmouth                                £6,383

Rowcroft Hospice                                £14,644 

Exeter Chiefs Foundation                    £8,653 

RMA – The Royal Marines Charity       £11,043 

Taking place at Powderham Castle estate Live At Powderham is organised by Live Nation promoters Cuffe and Taylor, known for curating world-class events in unique locations.

Cuffe and Taylor co-founder Peter Taylor said: “We were delighted to welcome four charity partners to Live At Powderham this year – each one carrying out very different work in the south Devon community, and we thank them for joining us.

“We also must say a huge ‘thank you’ to all our festival goers who supported the charities so generously helping them raise an absolutely fantastic amount of money, where every penny raised will now be used to support local people and organisations.”

Following an application process, the charities were each allocated their own headline night for volunteers to collect donations from festival goers.

Volunteers from RNLI Teignmouth attended the opening night headlined by Teddy Swims.

Wendy Richards Wood, fundraising chair for Teignmouth RNLI, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Live At Powderham for choosing us; opportunities like this not only help us raise vital funds but also allow us to engage with thousands of people and raise awareness of the RNLI’s lifesaving work. We would also like to thank everyone who donated so generously. Raising more than £6,300 in a single evening is amazing, and every pound will help support our volunteer crews as they save lives at sea.”

Attending Friday night’s headline show from Alanis Morissette was South Devon’s Rowcroft Hospice.

Corporate fundraiser Lisa Whittaker said: “We were delighted to be chosen as one of the charities for Live At Powderham. Thanks to our amazing volunteers and the generosity of festivalgoers we raised an incredible £14,644 which will support us to make every day the best it can be and enable families to share precious moments together.”

Exeter Chiefs Foundation joined the Saturday night audience for Lewis Capaldi’s first night at Powderham.

Administrator Becky Skinner said: “Our volunteers had an amazing time being among the crowds highlighting our work in the local community. The response we received was phenomenal and the amount raised exceeded our expectations, so our thanks goes to everyone who donated. The funds will be shared among our 26 designated charities and organisations, within the wider Exeter area. This will have such a positive impact on so many people’s lives. 

And rounding off the weekend at Lewis Capaldi’s second show was RMA – The Royal Marines Charity.

Director of communications Caroline Casey said: “Being given the opportunity to collect at the Lewis Capaldi concert was a tremendous success; not only did it raise an incredible amount, but it also gave us the chance to meet and engage with so many serving and former Royal Marines and their families. The value went far beyond fundraising; it raised awareness, strengthened connections and reached members of the Royal Marines family directly.”
